How We Do It
We work with local agencies who refer their clients, who are in need, to us for assistance. We will then meet with the clients at their new residence, learn about their needs and create a design plan to best serve that particular individual/family. We do our very best, with the donations we have on hand. Once a date has been arranged the client will leave their residence, for the day, if the situation allows, so our team of volunteers can go in and fully furnish their residence. Once the transformation is completed the client is invited back to their home for a very special unveiling of their newly furnished space. Furniture used in the transformations are donated to us from private individuals or corporations.
We must stress that we do not take requests for furnishings from the general public. It is only through referrals from our partner agencies that we assist individuals and families in need.
Transforming residences, for those in need, is not the only service we offer. We also educate our clients on everything from basic housekeeping tips, dangers of lead poisoning, organization, creative floor planning tips to maximize their spaces and creating areas for children that will spark creative thinking and enhance study-time so they can perform well in school.
We want our clients to feel empowered by their surroundings at home. If they have a special skill or talent, such as sewing, for instance, they can contribute to the designing of their home by making drapes, pillows or a quilt with donated fabric and other materials, thus creating personal empowerment, a sense of self worth and accomplishment.
At the conclusion of each transformation a one-of-a-kind art installation will be added to the home and will be a donation from a local artist. It is our hope that through this creative art piece that we can continually remind our clients of just how far they have come, how special they are and to feel encouraged about their future.
